Analysis
Do 21st century Christianseven Southern Baptistsreally believe that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge?
Do you believe that?
Please search your soul on this question.
- Doesn't learning start with A, B, C, and phonics?
- Doesn't learning start with counting and simple addition?
- Doesn't learning start with developing social skills with other children in a kindergartner's age group?
Not according to Proverbs 1:7.
Why do we send our children to school?
Obviously, we want the best for them. We want them to "get an education."
What kind of education will they receive?

What would be the purpose of such knowledge? Where will it lead?
A better job...A successful career...More money...Prominence and fame...Is this what's most important?
Are these things so important that they should be the exclusive focus of
a child's life for 5 days per week, nine months per year?
Indeed, learning to read, write, and cipher is important. But from a Proverbs 1:7 point of view, understanding that those things bring us closer to God and enable us to better serve Him and live in His will is crucial.
