What is the purpose of education?
Is it to learn how to read? Is it to learn how to write? Is it to learn how to compute?
Those are means to an end. The purpose of education is to discover truth to tackle the big questions of life; to find and discover meaning in life.
John 8:31-32 is clear, by continuing in the study of the word, we can know the Truth, and Truth will make us free. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
It is the duty of Christians to be Truth-seekers.
We learn to read so we can study God's word. For several of the founding fathers, this was the most important purpose of education, and a child's readers (i.e., McGuffy) were designed to begin inculcating scripture and Godly values on a child's heart.
We learn to write so we can serve God better. We learn to compute for the same reason. This is God's world.
Therefore education minus God is counterfeit. Education that compartmentalizes God is dysfunctional, as it fails to help a child apprehend Truth.
